From Drumsticks to Directing

Rowdy’s journey in the creative arts began in December 1984, when, at just 13 years old, he performed his first Christmas gig as a session drummer. What started as a passion for rhythm soon evolved into a lifelong career spanning music, television, film, broadcasting, and literature. In 1992, he formed his band Overdrive, a turning point that pushed him beyond music and into the world of visual storytelling. Unable to afford professional crews or equipment at the time, Rowdy and his band learned filmmaking through necessity—begging, borrowing, improvising, and teaching themselves the craft while producing their own music videos. That hands-on beginning laid the foundation for a multi-disciplinary creative career that continues to evolve today.

A Career Across Music, Film and Television

Over the last three decades, Rowdy has established himself as a versatile writer, producer, director, sound designer, and creative entrepreneur. His work includes the production and release of more than 30 albums, over 100 singles and remixes, approximately 300 jingles, and the mixing/mastering of more than 1,000 audio tracks. As a lyricist, he has written over 200 songs and jingles, including the title track for the Bollywood film Manorama: Six Feet Under.

Alongside music, Rowdy built an extensive career in television and film. He has written scripts for more than 200 television commercials, corporate films, documentaries, and broadcast productions. His directing and production portfolio includes over 30 music videos, multiple television series, documentaries, short films, and a feature film currently in development. Between 2014 and 2017, he also worked as Director of Photography and Music Director on several Hindi and Punjabi short film projects, further expanding his visual storytelling repertoire.

Building Independent Media Platforms

Beyond production, Rowdy has played an active role in community and independent media initiatives. He founded Southall TV, one of the UK’s earliest fully online community television channels, and later co-founded Dhoom Radio, where he served as programme director, presenter, and trainer. Through his company, Rowdy Productions Ltd
, he continues to develop film, television, music, digital media, and branded content projects.

The Writer and Author

In recent years, Rowdy expanded his creative expression into literature and personal development. He is the author of UGLY, OLD, PATHETIC LOOSER, a provocative and uncompromising exploration of self-worth, masculinity, conditioning, and emotional transformation. Drawing from decades of personal experience, meditation practice, and creative reflection, the book reflects his ongoing mission to challenge limiting narratives and encourage deeper self-awareness.

Alongside his literary work, Rowdy continues to write screenplays, essays, poetry, and commentary exploring identity, culture, human behaviour, and the psychology of modern life.

Today, Rowdy continues to work across multiple creative disciplines as a filmmaker, writer, broadcaster, sound designer, meditation coach, and content creator—driven by a belief that storytelling, whether through music, film, or literature, has the power to challenge, heal, and transform.
